Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)

This 1-day course is aimed at staff and/or carers supporting people (children and/or adults) whose behaviour challenges (sometimes referred to as behaviours of concern).

It explores the underlying causes of such behaviour and presents a number of perspectives that help enhance understanding.

The course includes the examination of a model for developing PBS strategies which takes into account proactive (environment and structure, communication and the importance of the attitudes of those around the person) and reactive (de-escalation and the safe management of challenging behaviours/behaviours of concern) strategies.

A lively and informative day which will equip participants with the insights necessary to contribute to the development of effective PBS stragegies.  The course content is mapped to the Skills for Care PBS Competence Framework.

For many people requiring support, the application of the principles of PBS will lead to positive outcomes in terms of their behaviours and quality of life.  It should be noted however, that for some, the additional application of specialist support (for example Functional Analysis or specific therapies such as CBT) may be required.

Price (ex VAT & expenses): £POA
