Children, young people & Education

Overview

We have extensive experience designing and delivering courses in residential children’s homes and both SEND and mainstream education settings. We also work with social care providers and families. Whether these are mandatory training, health and safety courses or behaviour support training, we strive to meet the needs of your organisation. We offer consultations for individuals and services if required. Our team of highly experienced and competent trainers include children’s services managers, registered nurses, and senior support workers.

Residential Children’s Homes

By incorporating your organisation’s chosen model for managing behaviour into our training, for example PACE or trauma-informed care, we equip you with the confidence to work within national legislation and guidance to support children and young people with behaviours of concern.

SEND & SEMH Provision

With extensive experience of both SEND and SEMH settings, we teach proactive and de-escalation strategies to support children and young people with complex needs. You will develop both non-physical strategies and physical intervention techniques to keep everyone safe.

Mainstream Education

We understand the unique challenges all schools face in managing behaviour while meeting curriculum requirements. You will learn practical and realistic strategies to keep everyone safe and improve outcomes for all. We can design bespoke packages based on your school’s needs.

Families, Foster Care & Adoption Services

We value the knowledge families have of their child and build on this knowledge to develop understanding of how to improve quality of life within an evidence-based framework for the young person and the whole family. Courses can be tailored to the family both in terms of content and delivery.

FAQs

Please find our most frequently asked questions here – however, if you need any more information, please call our team on 01159 704 811

Are your courses an equivalent of Team Teach and PMVA?

Next

Yes. Team Teach is a behaviour management training organisation. Other organisations use acronyms such as Managing Actual or Potential Aggression (MAPA) or Preventing & Managing Violence and Aggression (PMVA) to describe behaviour management and physical intervention courses. We don’t use an acronym, but the theory and physical skills are an equivalent and equip staff with similar skills.

Do you have to have mandatory certified training?

Next

Our RRN approved, Bild-ACT certified courses meet the highest national training standards for teaching physical interventions. They are not mandatory in all settings, and we can offer non-certified courses that meet the needs of sectors that require shorter courses or different content such as schools and residential children’s homes. We strive to always offer high quality training and will work with you to make sure that any course we deliver meets the needs of your organisation.

Do you have a train-the-trainer option for your courses?

Next

Our Bild-ACT certified courses in understanding behaviour and physical interventions can be delivered in-house through our associate trainer development programme? Delivering the training in-house offers organisations flexibility and significant cost savings while retaining confidence that they are offering high quality training in understanding behaviour, de-escalation and physical interventions to keep people safe. Every associate trainer receives ongoing support from the point of application and throughout their affiliation to attain & maintain their certified trainer status under the RRN Training Standards.

Are the physical skills suitable for children & young people?

Next

Yes. All our physical intervention techniques are risk assessed as suitable for different ages. Our training also includes details about individual risk factors, and we support your organisation to implement individual risk assessments based on least restrictive practice.
