Course Overview
Delivered by a registered mental health nurse, this course aims to give the learner a broad knowledge of mental health. You will understand what is meant by the term mental health and be able to describe the signs and symptoms of a range of mental health conditions. You will explore the stigma and misconceptions about mental health conditions and how these impact on a person. You will learn about the therapeutic support strategies available and consider how you can develop effective social care support strategies. You will consider the impact of support someone with a mental health condition on your own wellbeing and explore self-care strategies as well as the wider support available.

Can this course be delivered virtually?
Yes. While we strongly believe that face-to-face training is most effective, this course is modular so can be delivered virtually in sections. Whether delivered in person or virtually, there is an expectation that participants will actively engage in activities, group work exercises and discussions. Please speak to us as we will strive to deliver the training in the way that best suits your organisation.
Is the training certified?
This course is CPD certified. It is delivered by a registered mental health nurse and can be adapted to the specific needs of your organisation.
Will additional training be required?
The aim of the course is to equip staff with a broad knowledge and understanding of mental health. Depending on individual needs, you may wish to consider our training in Understanding Self-Harm, Ligature Release and Emergency First Aid at Work. Our Positive Behaviour Support courses and certified Physical Interventions training may also be highly useful to develop staff confidence in supporting people with mental health conditions who display behaviours of concern.
