Course Overview
This course is designed to meet with the Health and Safety at Work Act and Manual Handling Operations Regulations regarding manual handling of people within health & social care settings. You will develop the knowledge, understanding and practical skills around manual handling, with an aim to minimise risk of injury to yourself and patients. You will be able to identify hazards and reduce risk while promoting patient independence. You will learn about moving and handling equipment, demonstrate safe moving and handling techniques, and understanding of how to assist a falling or fallen person.

Does this course meet health and safety requirements?
Yes. Employers are legally required to provide manual handling training where necessary to protect their employees from injury. This course is designed to meet with the Health and Safety at Work Act and Manual Handling Operations Regulations regarding manual handling of people within health & social care settings, thereby protecting patients, staff and employers.
Will I learn correct moving and handling techniques?
Yes. As well as understanding the legislation and theory related to manual handling, you will learn and be assessed on moving and handling techniques, including the use of moving and handling equipment. This will be tailored to your organisation’s needs.
