Ligature Release

Course Overview

This course is designed to ensure organisations meet their responsibilities under Health & Safety legislation as well as other legal frameworks in the health, social care and education sectors to minimise risk in relation to ligatures. You will identify ligatures and recognise signs and symptoms of ligature injuries. You will consider how to assess and reduce risk before learning how to safely remove ligatures in various situations. You will safely demonstrate ligature removal and understand your roles and responsibilities in regards to preservation of evidence.

Does this course meet health and safety requirements?

Next

Yes. While there is not a single law to mandate ligature training specifically, employers have a legal duty under the Health & Safety at Work Act and setting specific legislation to ensure staff are trained to prevent and manage risks related to ligatures. This courses will ensure you understand your roles and responsibilities in how to prevent, respond and manage ligature incidents.

Will I learn CPR and how to use a defibrillator?

Next

This course will cover some elements of first aid specifically related to ligature incidents but there is an expectation that staff who require ligature training will be trained in a HSE compliant Emergency First Aid at Work qualification. Please talk to us if you require first aid training for yourself or your staff team.
