About Us

Andy is a founder and Director of Sherwood Training and is passionate about a rights-based approaches and restraint reduction.  He has worked in schools, residential care and supported living, primarily in the field of Autism and learning disabilities.  Andy is a certified PBS coach, certified Behaviour Assessor and has attended all the International PBS Conferences since 2015 and the RRN conferences since 2019.  More recently, he has taken part in the development of national the BSP-CAT PBS audit tool.

As both an experienced trainer and former nursing professional, Nick is a founder and Director of Sherwood Training. When working as a Learning Disability nurse, Nick saw first-hand how improving a person’s quality of life through Positive Behaviour Support reduced behaviours of concern and increased their quality of care. He remains committed to developing high quality, ethical training that promotes the importance of dignified and respectful person-centred approaches.

Kirstie has been a qualified mental health nurse from 2006. She has worked in the care profession since 2001 in dementia care, brain injury units, medium secure hospital and youth offending prisons. Kirstie left her role as a clinical nurse lead specialising in crisis support at CAMHS service to move into teaching PBS. This is something Kirstie is extremely passionate about as she recognises the importance of valuing people as individuals and building positive and proactive relationships. She often says that the ethos of PBS is something she did in her career long before she knew what it was.

Kirsty has over 15 years’ experience in the field of supporting people Autism and/or learning disabilities.  She is a caring and compassionate person who believes in a person-centred PBS approaches both in her personal and professional life.  Alongside her level 5 qualification in Leadership in Health and Social Care, she also has a diploma in Autism from Birmingham University.  Kirsty is an excellent trainer, as can be evidenced by her feedback on our RRN Approved open courses which she developed and leads.  Kirsty also handles our quality assurance and compliance systems both internally and for our Affiliate Organisations.

Fergus is a highly qualified business professional having worked in the past as a business advisor with a special interest in social enterprise, cooperatives and credit unions.  He joined the team in 2012 and has been with us ever since.  Fergus works as our Office Manager and is often described as the glue that holds the team together.  He also liases with all of our customers and is often a frequent port of call for our Associate Trainers, assisting them with the course administration side course training.

Ben is a highly experienced support worker having experience in many settings including learning disability, mental health, residential care and supported living. He has also worked in forensic secure settings. Whilst Ben has a qualification in teaching Physical Interventions, he strongly believes that good proactive and preventative strategies reduce the need for restrictive practices.  Ben has been delivering courses for Sherwood Training for over 10 years and still remains passionate about sharing his skills and knowledge with those on his training.

With over 12 years’ experience in health, social care and training Liam is a reliable, proactive and hard working member of the Sherwood Training team.  He initially began his career providing daily support services to people with autism and/or learning disabilities.  A passionate supporter of PBS approaches, Liam has extensive experience in supporting teams to deliver positive and proactive support plans.  Having delivered training for several years, Liam continues to receive high quality feedback from all those he trains.  He has a natural ability to understand the needs of his learners and always ensures that they get the most out of the courses he delivers.

Jack has an extensive practical background in both management and the PBS development within teams and services.  He has an inherent talent for working with teams to get the best results for the person they are supporting.  Jack began training as an Associate Trainer before joining Sherwood Training in 2024.  He has received constant and consistent high praise and feedback from everyone attending his courses.
