This 1/2-day course covers the principles of record keeping and specifically the guidelines provided by Skills fro Care/Skills for Health. It covers the basic principles and the importance of record keeping in terms of day-to-day communication, evidence of support provided, evidence of fulfilling duty of care, monitoring of health and well-being, assessment etc.
It examines the principles of confidentiality, disclosure, capacity and consent (as set out in statute and common law) and looks at good practice guidelines, the dangers of modern technology and social media and what can and cannot be disclosed without consent. Finally, it covers how to respond if there is an actual or suspected breach of confidentiality.
Presented through powerpoint presentations and including discussions and groupwork, the course provides participants with clarity in terms of their obligations and the rights of the people they work with.
