A 1/2-day course aimed at workers in the health and social care sectors, it looks at the concepts of professional practice/conduct, communication and relationships.
Firstly, it examines the Skills for Care, Skills for Health Code of Conduct and the implications for day-to-day practice for workers. It considers the dillemas sometimes faced by workers and also grey areas where perhaps knowing the right thing to do is not always as clear as we would like it to be. How should we go about addressing these issues?
The course then goes on to look at some of the diffficulties that can arise in relationships with the people being worked with and/or their carers. How to view difficulties in relationships and how to go about overcoming them. The course considers a number of helpful models.
The course can help support staff to plan their interactions in such a way as to build confidence and enable positive engagement with those who may otherwise refuse support.
