This 1-day course is aimed at giving participants who support people with either an anti-social or borderline personality disorder insight into the diagnosis. Participants will begin to understand the link to between traumatic childhood experiences and adult presentations as well as using basic attachment theory to gain a more in-depth understanding of the people they support. Finally, the course will examine and try and make sense of our own emotions when supporting people with personality disorder before looking at some basic ideas of how support can be more effective and containing. Course is suitable for support workers and/or provider managers.
The course is delivered by Karl Teer, RNLD, BA (Hons) Social Care - an experienced nursing professional with a particular interest in Mental Health and Personality Disorder.
